Tide Scape
Tide Scape
76 x 170cm Handwoven digital tapestry woven using industry ‘deadstock’ yarns. Cotton, tencel, linen, bamboo, silk, rayon and other.
Charcoal drawings and mark-making of imagined landscapes are the starting point for this contemporary tapestry. Patterns are translated in natural linen, tencel and bamboo with lustrous turquoise and gold fibres. The colours are decided and blended while the digital tapestry is being handwoven. A foot pedal is used to lift a pre-programmed sequence of warp threads and the shuttles are thrown by hand to grow the artwork row by row. The threads run the full width of the piece and appear on the surface or are hidden behind.
Recently exhibited with Future Icons Selects as part of London Craft Week. Currently on show with Circle Contemporary gallery, Wadebridge, Cornwall.
