Sustainable luxury inspired by nature

“Sperryn strives to test the limits of weaving with every tapestry she makes. By incorporating simple principles to hide and reveal yarns through raising and lowering warp threads, Sperryn creates sophisticated textiles that speak to formal questions of abstraction and figuration, as well as to the history and place of weaving in the arts. She uses sustainable yarns and avoids producing waste in her practice, therefore speaking to pressing contemporary issues such as environmental destruction and the relationship between human beings and the world.”

Let’s make a difference!

The chosen fine yarns are consciously sourced to respect the environment. Some come from mills’ ‘dead stock’ or ‘post-industrial waste’ and if not re-purposed into beautiful textile pieces, these amazing colourful yarns find their way into landfill. Others for example, are eco-certified in their dyeing and manufacture.

The studio and the loom are run using only green energy. After the cloth is cut from the loom, the finishing processes are carefully chosen for sustainability. Water is heated by solar energy or local resources and pieces are dried in the fresh air where possible.

The aim is considered, eco-conscious design producing as little waste as possible. The skilfully hand woven cloth is precious. Weave sampling is targeted and no fabric is wasted either in commission weaving projects or in the artwork hangings.
