Handwoven digital tapestry artwork at London Craft Week 2023
Fiona enjoys sharing her inspiration and creative process, which you can learn more about on this video.
Each tapestry is carefully handwoven in her studio in Cornwall on a state-of-the-art digital loom. She translates her original drawings into computer files to be read by her jacquard loom. She presses a foot pedal to lift each programmed combination of warp threads. She throws shuttles of different colours, combining carefully chosen fibres and blending colours as if painting with yarn, showing them on the surface or hiding them behind.
