Handwoven digital tapestry artwork at Decorex
Thank you to all who visited Decorex in October and made it such a vibrant, inspiring event. Fiona exhibited her work for the first time at this internationally acclaimed interior design fair alongside some talented makers on the Design-Nation stand at Olympia.
Two of Fiona’s unique artworks were on display and she enjoyed sharing her inspiration and making process with visitors. Her art is created from original drawings, which she translates into computer files to be read by the jacquard loom. Each tapestry is carefully handwoven in her studio in Cornwall on a state-of-the-art digital loom. She presses a foot pedal to lift each programmed combination of warp threads. She throws shuttles of different colours, combining carefully chosen fibres and blending colours as if painting with yarn.
